Not such good weather.....17/06/11
Yuck. The weather has been dull, rainy, grey, and completely pants for the last week or so. Sunny France they say!!
Travel photography is all about different challenges, the weather being a huge one. When I travel in Asia the monsoon is what I have to get around. Here its dull grey skies.
Having all your photographs with beautiful blue skies may look picturesque, but will they really make an interesting set of photographs?
If they country has variable weather, one of my missions is to capture that. You have to show the spectrum of weather, and yes that does include miserable days!
I hate bad weather, but love photographing and looking at clouds. Here is what I do on these nasty wet days;
- Protect my camera and me if its really nasty. Cling film and a rubber band for my camera, rubber boots and a mac for me.
- Look up and capture the different colours in the dark sky.
- Look for hints of blue to give the dark sky contrast. This may be a hint of blue in the sky or a blue building or car.
Photograph people. What the local people do on the wet and depressing days.
