Dali.....08/06/11
Today we visited the amazing Dali Museum in Figueres, Spain. Its one of my favourite art galleries. Dali is so whacky and his sculptures are so visually stimulating. I’m so inspired by his work.
The museum is an old theatre which has been converted into a gallery, this is perfect for Dali as his art is really a ‘show’.
Your permitted to take photographs in the theatre, with out flash, making it a fantastic photo opportunity. I felt in my element, everywhere I looked there was something to photograph. I love his sculptures, I was able to get some really great shots with different angles and perspectives.
There was one thing about the Dali ‘theatre’ that did slightly irritate me, and that was the crowds. I mean, its not even the school summer holidays and already the place was absolutely crammed. The crowds did mean I had to work slightly harder and faster, trying to get a shot with out somebody walking right into it. I did, on the other hand, try and work with the crowds, they often gave the sculptures and paintings a perceptive and an idea of the size.
Three things I got from my visit to the Dali Theatre;
-To work with the crowds and not to get frustrated with them.
-Not to just look at the obvious angle, often sculptures can take on a whole new look if photographed from a different angle.
-Not to forget how amazing Dali is!!
I have written about ways to ‘Dodge’ the crowds and avoid the crush after being inspired by people at the Dali Theatre.(and in preparation for my upcoming trip to Paris, in the July holidays!)
